What do Mentors Do?
As a mentor, you will be visiting one of our partner schools within the Perth metro area with a group of mentors (around 5-8 people), one period a week over the course of a semester. The mentor group runs activities with the students which focus on building relationships between mentors and students; building the student's skills in areas such as teamwork, public speaking and problem solving; and working on goal-setting and career pathways. Each group of mentors is also led by two fellow coordinators who plan the activities you will be running for the class.
I don't know how to mentor!
Don't worry, mentors are also provided with comprehensive training at the beginning of semester before you head into the classes and it's also a great way to meet other mentors and is followed by our Start of Semester Social! Training is compulsory for all mentors.
How much commitment does mentoring require?
As a mentor you will need to commit to one school period a week throughout the semester (excluding study break and exams). There is also a lot of flexibility in that we have multiple classes in multiple time slots for you to choose from so that you can fit it into your weekly schedule. Factoring in travel time to and from the school, the time commitment is around 3 hours each week and mentor groups often work out carpooling arrangements.
I'm interested! Where do I sign up?
